the after life...

i was very drawn to this image right off the bat -- the major two factors influencing that:
- contrasting colors (yellow/orange vs. blue/green)
- depth of field (quite shallow)
this is a great capture, allowing the flower a transcendence from a bit dried up and not incredibly pretty on its own to a fantastic, eye-catching subject.

my only suggestion for improving upon a shot like this would be to give a little more of the background in the frame -- more "breathing room" for the subject, if you will. in doing so you could work on a 2/3 or some such framing to add a little more visual interest or movement to the image as well.
